Remembering Port Chicago

2m 58s
Featuring Cemetery Director Kathleen McCal, this short film about Golden Gate National Cemetery illustrates the integral role of the cemetery in the community since its founding in 1938. In 1937, San Francisco residents voted to no longer build cemeteries within the city proper and, as a result, the site for the new national cemetery was selected south of the city limits. This is the final resting of 146,000 veterans and family members in the city of San Bruno.
