Formed some thousands of years ago during the Honolulu period of secondary volcanic activity, Cemetery director Jim Horton introduces us to the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific (Punchbowl). Known to Hawaiian’s as “Hill of Sacrifice,” Punchbowl became national memorial cemetery in the Summer of 1949. Veteran Documentary Corps made this profile in 2018 as part of our partnership with the National Cemetery Administration.
